Downtime....?!

You may have noticed several times in the last few weeks that accyweb has been unavailable. This is due to the server being unable to cope with the popularity of the websites it contains. I have done quite a few 'tweaks' but I really need more memory for the database server, only problem is there are no spare slots in the motherboard and we are already maxed out for this server. I am looking into a new server right now, the costs are going to be double what I'm paying now, but it should at least do us for another couple of years.
So, right now if anyone can spare any dosh then please consider donating to accyweb to help cover costs of the new server, I've added a new donate button to the menu above which gives you a number of ways to donate via paypal. Donaters receive the Accy Supporter image under your username in posts and are able to edit the user title which is shown under your name on every post.

Anyway, if you've got this far, thanks for considering a donation,
just for your info this is the price for the new server $454/month + $350 setup fee, so it isn't cheap running busy websites!!

I have donated now......I have tried to in the recent past and I must have been doing something wrong because it wouldn't let me.
I get a lot of pleasure from the site so I feel that it is only fair that I make a contribution.

Come on all you that sell stuff on here can spare a bit for the new server .
please donate to keep this a great site going.
it really costs a fortune to keep a big site like this going.
Roy is working hard and i have donated .
it really takes money to keep a site like this running smoothly
so please if you do not have access to pay pal get in touch with me and i will forward your donation on when Roy gets back
It really does not matter how much you want to donate every little bit helps so come on there are over 11,000 members registered
if all members donate £1 then just think what Roy could do with the site

PS if you win the euro lottery remember Roy takes euros too

I just want to thank everyone who has donated so far! It really is much appreciated.

I have now ordered a new server and it has twice the processing power than this one, twice the memory and much faster hard drives (we are going raid, 15k, scsi! any geeks that want to know the full config let me know).

Looking at the post count, we are getting closer to that 500,000 target that officially makes us one of the biggest forums in the world... (ish.. see The largest Message Boards and Forums on the web!, only 2133 forums in the world listed with over 500,000 posts). Which I think is quite an achievement for our town and the great people that live in it.

I hope to have the new server configured and running over this weekend. This will mean downtime and the forum will be unavailable for several hours.

Any more donations still very welcome, the bills have suddenly gone up
