On the move, again! :)

AccyWeb is on the move again. The current server we are on is getting a bit overloaded so I have got another one. We'll be moving some time this week to our new home on a top of the range Pentium Xeon Server which contains dual 2.8ghz Xeon processors with hyper threading (simulated quad processor machine) and a hardware RAID card driving multiple high speed SCSI drives. I am extremely excited about this as this new server has twice the power of the old server! Yippeeeeee.......

The downside to this is normal operation will not be possible. I am hoping that we'll have about 30 mins - 60 mins downtime and then a couple of hours on a temporary URL until the internet has found us in our new place. At all times you should be able to at least access a page that contains info on what is going on!

PS. while the word 'expensive' is apparent i might mention that paypal wont take my address and therefore wont process my donation. It only contains the names of British counties. If any of you know a way around this ... spill

Paypal should be international. If I can find any information about it I'll come back.

I do hope the petz survive the move,

When you register with PayPal, if you look at the "country" field, there should be an arrow for a drop down menu where you can select your country. Then if you select USA it gives you all the states instead of the English counties.

Thank you Willow ... found it ... did that
My concern with PayPal was twofold though. Besides the country of origin issue, the are some scary stories regarding this method of payment on the web.

Re: On the move, again! :)

I've been using PayPal for years and never had a problem.

I have read some "scary stories" but most of those tend to be written by people who have had disputes with other users and complain because they can't get their money. PayPal freezes accounts I believe whilst disputes are ongoing (which is supposed to safeguard both parties).

I have used it a couple of times to pay for goods on ebay and haven't encountered any problems thus far
