Re: chat
Make sure your "JAVA" is upto date as thats the software script the chatroom runs on
Download Free Java Software - Sun Microsystems
The chatroom is running fine it had 10 members in the other night

Re: chat
actually mick, be careful as you might find that actually the users have too new a version of Java. If they get the latest from Sun it probably won't work. IIRC you need version 1.4.2 for the chat room on here to work, Sun are currently sending 1.6.
Also one quirk is that good browsers such as Opera and firefox allow you to specify which version from all you have installed where IE only uses the system default one. This way you can run different software that have different java requirements
In Firefox/Opera, type "about:config" in the address bar and you can change all sorts of options - Remember with power comes responsibility!

Re: chat
fair enough, I just recall Jen having a problem due to the chat using an old version, Roy must have updated it when he did his refresh.
One other thing that came to mind was it could be a corrupt .jar file that has cached on emamums PC. Invalid bytecode is suggesting its not recognising the bytecode as java classes as opposed to not finding the class definifitions.
You might need to clear your cache completely ensuring java is also cleared down.
