Oswaldtwistle History

Hi - I'm tracing 10 siblings of the COCK family including my Grandad. This is mainly around the Fylde Coast but one brother Henry Cock was a resident of Oswaldtwistle when he died in 1934.

I've applied for a copy of his DC and see that he ran a Fish & Chip Restaurant at 5 Catlow Hall Street. His wife Annie Cock (née Balmer) registered his death.

Any help with the following:

(1) I'm looking for their grave(s) or any other record of their burial/cremation.

(2) Were there any children from this marriage?

(3) Are there any old photos of the Fish & Chip shop from the 1930's?

Many thanks

Martin

Re: Oswaldtwistle History

Number 1 Catlow Hall St is still a chip shop on the corner opposite the bottom of Fielding Lane, number 5 is a house, it is possible that the numbering system has changed as there are buildings on the opposite corner of Catlow Hall St. Go on to "showmystreet.com" and check it out.

The jayman Re starlight club blackburn

Starlight club Blackburn and rosegrove Caberet club Burnley did exist in the late 60’s early 70’s I was resident drummer at rosegrove and the starlight club playing to packed audiences 7 nights a week where we had 6 acts a night, 2 top of the bills changing show weekly. Top,of the bill acts included Bruce Forsyth, morecambe and wise, Howard keel, Acker bilk, Freddie Starr, and many many more famous names. The resident organist at the caberet was jack farnsworth and the compère Steve Munro. One of The resident organist at starlight was Barrie Edwards and Eric neilson, percussion Eric Shawna did compete Stan Edwards. The manageress was Margery and all this was part of a small fro up of clubs in the area owned by Brian and David tattersall of continental casinos Burnley. I met my wife there in 1969 as one of the dancers. Hope this answers your dilema over successful clubs in the area at tha time. Pete allan
