Thumbs up Jean Lord

Hi Everyone.
I have joined this site because I am Secretary of Whalley Local History Group and from time to time people from Accrington contact us. I am also a member of Whalley in Bloom and found your site when researching William Cocker and his connection to Gertrude Jekyll and Dyke Nook as apparently there was some collaboration with Whalley Abbey Grounds. Cocker Chemicals was taken over by British Tar Products, then Clariant. Are they still in Accrington as I want to make contact .

Re: Jean Lord

Many of Accrington's early industrialists had connections with Whalley, which in the early days of the Industrial Revolution was a centre of learning, particularly in the field of chemistry. It was an "Athens of the North"
