1911 census
My grandfather is listed in 1911 census as living in dowry
Street and employed as manager of baby linen Manufacture. Does anybody know what company that might be |

Hi, many years ago there was a well known firm called Nuttall & Company, Ladies and Childrens Clothes. They were established in 1902 by a Mr Issac Nuttall who began, in a small way, at no 9 Burnley Road (Dowry Street ran off Burnley Road).
The firm specialised in all kinds of garments, ready made or to measure - they then had a factory known as The Ocean Works - Burnley Road and Back Dowry Street. They had a good reputation in the area. Everything from a button to a costume was made by the workforce there. |
