Does any one remember Herman?

Back in late 60's early 70's there was a guy who looked a bit like Mick Jagger - and kind of stood out from the crowd, he hung around town centre wearing classic 60's clothing - his name was Herman, anyone remember who I am talking about? I never really knew him he was just one of those characters that stood out.:rolleyes::D:D

Yeah I think I know who you mean, if Cashmans initials are correct.

I believe he used to be on the CB a lot 15ish years ago?

I wonder how old this Herman chap will be.
I knew a Herman who was second man on a Nori brick lorry and trailer and later went to drive for Hotpoint.
A mate of mine had a few lorries on contract to Hotpoint and Herman went to work for him.
I remember him telling me he did home deliveries with washing machines and once had to go 10 floors up a block of flats carrying a machine because the lift was broken.
The Herman I knew would be getting on for 80 now.

I'd say that about 1970 he'd have been say 25. Which means now he's about 77 - but he could have been older. Herman was his nickname I think - don't know his real name, apart from the initials Cashman gave. ;)

I think that would make him about 67 but I agree he would have been in his early twenties around 1970. I think I ought to know his name but can't remember what it was even with the help of Cashman's initials.

I wonder if the strong man that Gemlin tells of might be a man called Herman Burgess, who is still alive I think and approaching 80. He did live up Haywood Rd way ten or so yrs ago. In the early 50s, he were t'cock o't' schoo' at St John's but has lead a very settled life as a family man - certainly not the town centre chap but likely to have been very strong though mild-mannered

This guy used to dress like typical 60's flower power and a few times had nice girls with him again they were very 60's looking this was late 60's, he used to go over Coppice on sunny days. I don't know if Herman was a nick name as he had big lips, like I said he did look a bit like Mick Jagger - he also looked a bit spaced out. :)

His initials are A S. He was nicknamed Herman (Munster) due to his 'unusual' looks. He'd be around 60 - 65 ish now. Still see him around Accy.
