worcester boiler advice if possible please :-)

Hi guys wonder if anybody knows!
When in the shower it can be hot and then goes icy cold, the pilot light goes out on the boiler,if we turn a tap on it triggers the pilot light to turn back on!

Any info will be useful
Thankyou :-)

Does the pilot light still go out if you have a window open?
If not, get ventilation and flue checked by an expert ASAP could be starving due to lack of oxygen.

Do'nt mess around with gas. Get a registered Gas Safe engineer to look at it.It literally could be anything. You haven't said where your boiler is or if it is balanced flue. When was the last time you had it serviced?

I think you should be asking a boiler engineer myself.

Edit: Beaten to it by Max

I used to work for a Gas Safe registered company doing industrial/commercial gas work and I have seen a lot of diy botch work which was very dangerous. You are doing the best thing getting it looked at by a registered engineer. If you look on Gas Safe website and put in your postcode , it will come up with the engineers in your area.

Sounds like the diverter valve isn't sensing the flow of water to your shower but opening a tap is more water so it does. Modern boilers don't have pilot lights, they have electronic ignition so it's normal to not see a flame when they are off.

Derek is a top bloke but even though his phone numbers are on his website I'm not allowed to post them here so I'll post a link to his website :)

Get him phoned up and tell him us muppets on AccyWeb recommended him

That's Derek's outfit?

I used them only last weekend, great service at the counter.
Turn left just after Rawtenstall Asda to get into the compound.

I sorted mine out, turned water off, stripped the shower mixer down, cleaned it all - reassembled and all is fine now.

Apart from the leak.... soon to be fixed when new filter washers arrive :)

ISTR diverter valves cost approx a fiver for a universal diaphragm but RGI's prefer to replace the whole unit cos it's easier for them.
