Ascension Day Blackpool Flights
 
Does anyone remember the Ascension Day school trips to Blackpool - followed by a flight around the resort and then over Accrington before returning? Connected with this, are there any photos of this event? (I can remember going on this trip roundabout 1961-2).

I can remember them well, but my family could never afford for me to go.

Remember them well, but same as Margaret, my parents couldn't afford for me and my brothers to go.

If my memory serves me right, it was 21 shillings to go on this trip.
There was just no way that could be justified. It is a lot of Cheshire milk bottles( we got threeha'pence for every one we took back).
Only ever went on one school trip...to Chester and the river Dee. That was ten bob and my grandma paid for that with her winnings from the horses.
Some lad threw my school beret in the river and that was another ten bob (seven and six for the beret and half a crown for the Peel Park badge).

seems most of us were of peasant stock, lol but was very happy nonetheless.
