Mine gets a wash after every use....and if it goes rusty it gets the fling-oh.
I have to say though that more and more cans have the ring pulls....and the can opener I use is just on of the cheap butterfly jobbies.....can't be bothered with electric gadgets much...though I do use an electric knife sometimes

Lazy? No, I weight lift with dumb bells in the kitchen while it's doing it's job ..... just to ease my guilty conscience of making a machine work for me

Why struggle un necessarily, fighting with a darn can that either busts the opener or u have to bash to get the sod open - not lazy - just brainy gives me time to fight with other awkward things
