Re: Shouldn't you be doing something else?

I think you guys, most of you anyway, have got a massive overdose of Lancashire work ethic. Chill guys, time was meant for wasting. If you are not ignoring some crappy job you are supposed to be doing, you are not having fun. All this guilt comes from parents and grandparents. I remember my gran asking what I was doing, and when I responded "nowt," thinking I was in deep s**t for doing something wrong, she would scream, in a voice trained on the factory floor: "Well, do SUMMAT."

Re: Shouldn't you be doing something else?

That is what I was getting at Eric......All of us can find time to do the things we enjoy......but when we haven't done the things that we should have done, we cite lack of time.
And my gran used to say to me 'If they told you that was work you wouldn't want to do it!'...............and it meant roughly the same thing.

I did nothing useful all day ... it was hard ... I could almost feel the belt on the back of my legs. And now, I am going to eat food that is bad for me, and wash it down with lots of beer. Cheers.

Re: Shouldn't you be doing something else?

Yes, Margaret I should !! Taken some time off work to put my house back in order after decorator.

Need to clean out all kitchen cupboards, clean all windows, pictures, etc., etc., etc.

Have you noticed after having decorating work done, the money you spend on all the extras 'cause they don't look good any more. So far have acquired:-

Couple of new light switches (brass of course)
Carpets cleaned.
New smoke alarms .. looked like they had been in a fire themselves.
New carbon monoxide warning cards -only to be told by Gas Man complete waste of time as can't see the change of colour if you are asleep in bed .. then tried to sell me one that has an alarm ... has a point I suppose.

New riser rail for shower.
Need toiler roll holder.
Thrown out plants as not been very kind to them... will have to look for new ones.
Side lights in back room .. knocked one off wall after Accyweb meet.
Three new lampshades .. they get burnt at the top, don't they ?
New main curtain rail.
Curtains cleaned.
New picture for hall .. t'other looked outdated.
Chucked out all artificial flower arrangements and lots of clutter ornaments, but looking to replace.

Need I go on !!

Oh, forgot .. gotta find new suite and rug ..

Better get offa here then ....

My Gran used to say, "If you really must do nothing couldn't you go and do it somewhere else?" I think I was probably getting under her feet.

Accyweb is a bit like chocolate...one piece is never enough, it is addictive......you feel guilty when you know you should be doing something more productive, but heck you do it anyway.
Accyweb might not be full of fat laden calories but it still thickens your waist as you sit here at the keyboard when you could be at the gym.
It can however, be good for your heart...especially if you have a problem, because there is always someone on here who is ready with uplifting words and support......and before you ask, NO the back bedroom still isn't ready and the rellies arrive on Tuesday!

I come backwards and forwards here. I do a bit of dusting, then sit down and have another look at AccyWeb, vac a floor then sit down and have a look at AccyWeb, do a bit of ironing then sit down and have a look at AccyWeb.

You're right Margaret. I think it must be addictive.

Willow......I know it is....when I take Ma away for a break, I can't wait to get back to see what is going on here. It is better than any soap opera.
(in fact, if I am honest, while I am away i look around to see if there is an internet cafe where I can get my 'fix'........and would love hotels to have some public computer facilities.
