Tattoo or not Tattoo

Nearly every time you open a paper or watch TV these so called stars are all covered in tattoos, but to m it doesn't do anything for their appearance, Amy Winehouse springs readily to mind, tatoos to that extent on a woman are awful, small ones in discreat places okay, but all over the arms is unsightly, although its different for men, but to many even them don't look right to me, i. e. David Bekham. I have never had the urge to have a tattoo of any sort, have you and why did you decide to have one

Re: Tattoo or not Tattoo

I have one. It's a butterfly on my ankle. I had it done, quite simply because I wanted to know what it felt like. It's fairly small and took about half an hour to do. I'm half tempted to have another one but now that I've had one I don't feel such a burning desire to have more.

Re: Tattoo or not Tattoo

i have 2 the first when i was 17 i got "your name" on my bum cheek (jackass was all the rage) i still look at it today and remember good times and the other is on my wrist its a hyroglyph from the third blade move (the one the blond guys has under his belly button)

there only small and yes i am marked for life but i am happy i have them and most of the time forget them being there, i do not plan on having any more as its like a piece of art just one more mark and its ruined i think 2 is enough

Re: Tattoo or not Tattoo

I don't mind them in discreet places....Ankles, feet, back etc.. on women.

My mate had a playboy bunny done on her foot....Wouldn't have been my choice, but it looks ok.

She said she wanted one on her arm with her kids name under it....AFTER I had finished slapping her round the head to bring her to her senses, she realised that maybe she didn't want one on her arms.

I think it looks awful when women have them on their arms.... and I think people judge you by the look of your tattoo's than the actual real you.

How anyone can deface their body permanently is beyond me.

Still, always useful for identification if one of your ex-girl friends decides to chop you up in little pieces... (only joking)

I don't like them at all and all 3 of my children have them. My son has a sort of skull thingy set in a flower (he designed it himself) on his shoulder. Both my daughters have a small rose on the shoulder but the younger one also has a Chinese symbol on her thigh. It's supposed to say "dad" but, as we don't speak or read Chinese, it could be an obscenity for all I know.

I find them fasinating, but would never have on myself.

I'm never happy with the same avatar for too long, so wouldn't risk permenantly marking my skin.

Re: Tattoo or not Tattoo

One night in gay Paree I paid 10 francs to see
The tattoed French lady tattooed from head to knee.
Tattooed across her jaw was the Royal Flying Corps
And right across her back there was the Union Jack.
Marching up her right knee was the Household Cavalry
And all around her hips was a fleet of battleships

On her left kidney was the harbour bridge at Sydney
But what I liked best, right across her chest,
Was my home in Tennessee.

Anon.

Re: Tattoo or not Tattoo

Most look cheap and naff, I wouldn't bother tbh, they all seem to fade and you can't really go back and say " well, it's not how I thought it would be".
I thought ( in my hippy days when I was young and daft) that I might have one if I saw the "right design that was really me" , I still haven't seen it and have now gone off them totally.
