Go on Eric tell me more about your wonderful trees (you are risking my arrival on your doorstep - I hope you realise that )

Which tree? I have two maples and a large elm. Tho' I don't really own them, the squirrels and the birds do Kingston does have a large urban forrest, though the trees took a beating in the ice storm of '99. But that's not the kind of weather I wish to brag about, altho' it was awe inspiring, 4 days of freezing rain and high winds does give an alien aspect to the landscape.

Re: weather??
Record temperature of 49 degrees Celsius in Italy, and weather in the UK that makes you think you should really be building an Ark.
If this is global warming they can keep it.

My best friend Miily's dad lives down in Puglia, the place in the south that recorded the temperature.
He said it's horrible, and old people are dropping like flies.
It'd be great if we reached 20 today.

Re: weather??
I wonder if the culvert of the River Hyndburn is big enough to cope with this abnormally high rainfall. Has anyone anything to report about the size of the river in its visible sections?
(A forum thread 'The culverting of the river' a few years ago detailed its route.)

Re: weather??
It must be really abnormal weather you guys are having in the north ... it even made our local news ... pictures of choppers in Sheffield, the dam in Rotherham ... (I know; who gives a damn ... it's only Yorkshire) ... We are having a mini heat wave ... 32 with high humidex, about 5 less by the lake ... but tomorrow the weather is supposed to break, with a cold front, storms, and cooler temps. But we are having, esp in western Canada, many more tornadoes than is usual. I do think the debate on climate change is over ... climate change won.

If you see anyone trying to bury their goldfish today in the Tinker, please feel free to warn them.
