Re: weather??
Went out for a pint last night and met a guy from Florida who said he was going stay in a hotel until the snow went away. No way he would drive in it. I suggested that he might want to take out citizenship and buy a house here because the snow might not go away until late March next year ... and this was a snowfall that didn't even slow down traffic in the city. Apart from a bad truck accident on the 401 there was only the usual number of weekend fender benders on city streets.

Re: weather??
And for all you wimps across the pond, it is a balmy -15c (wind chill probably has it at -20; but it has warmed up since this morning. It is getting to the time of the year that Canadians think about wearing a warm sweater when they barbeque. But it is fun to go down to the outdoor rink behind City Hall and skate for a while ... there is alway a hot dog vendor on hand .... and see all the little kids bundled up in their snow suits skating away like Wayne Gretzky.

Probably the latter We had lots of snow over the weekend; yesterday the 401, the major freeway in this country was shut down, the OPP would not allow anyone on it until the snow had stopped and the highway plows had been through. These plows are as big as a house and travel down the highway at 100 kph. I am just about to shovel out my driveway for the third time in two days ... keeping ahead of the snow is the only way to do it. It's nice and still today, and sunny but cool (about -10), and you can hear the snowplows all over the city, getting things back to normal.

Re: weather??
We haven't had it that bad here since 1947, when I recall watching my dad dig a way to the 'long drop' at the bottom of the backyard. It was as deep as a door is high
