Why did we buy that?

Have a look in your kitchen cupboards, under the stairs, in the garage. How many things are there that you used once or never and never will again?

Like the two wheeled trolley that converts into a four wheel trolley that converts into- I can't remember, it was either an aircraft carrier or a lunar landing module.
Trouble is it weighs about the same as a small aircraft carrier, by the time you've dragged it out, uncollapsed it and dragged it over some garden steps you're shattered and you know that when you put that weight on it you'll get a hernia trying to move it. Also it will ground itself on the garden steps as firmly as the Costa Concordia.
Or the blender which has a huge box of attachments which will do everything except clean themselves.
It turns a lovely pan-full of fresh chopped veg into a brown tasteless sludge which if you saw it in the toilet would make you rush to ring the doctors.
Or the halogen patio heater which fixes under the sun umbrella so you can sit out in the cool of the evening nice and snug while you relax with a nice cold beer.
Trouble is, by the time you've got it out, sprained your wrist trying to fit it on the umbrella(they're heavy), run all the wiring and switched on your beer's flat and it's bedtime. But you can't go to bed, you've to put it all away because if you don't and it rains it will electrocute you next time you switch it on.
How about the sandwich press which does just that- it squashes your cheese toasty into a thin piece of cheese flavoured hardboard.
What are your 'best buys'?

nope......I haven't been so rash as to part with my hard earned moolah for something that I will rarely use.
Many moons ago I had a blender, but it was used regularly for converting our grub into baby grub....I wasn't paying Heinz exorbitant prices for something that the tinlids would very likely spit on the floor.
Once they got past the stage where they needed pre-masticated food, the thing was given to someone else who had tinlids to feed(I had had my moneysworth out of it).

I bought a George Forman Grill, but realised it wasn't anything that I could not achieve with my regular grill so that, too, was moved on.
I don't buy anything that takes an army of men with muscles to move...the only mussels my man has these days are those in a jar that you sprinkle vinegar on(disgusting things that they are).

One of those with hinges and wiring specially designed to trap all the cheese so you can't get it out? That's why we got the sandwich press- bad move!

Another bonus from the halogen heater I forgot- if you do manage a few minutes under it drinking your flat beer- there's 2000 watts shining on your bald head(in my case) and after 10 minutes your headache is so bad you wish you'd just put an anorak and gloves on or gone straight to bed.

Margaret, we're talking boys toys here- a woman would have more sense than to buy these useless things!

A Teflon fat free chip fryer, just add a drop of special oil and get your chips cooked to perfection with hot air in half an hour.
Used once, then given away.
It takes me half that time to drive to the chippy and back and I don't have to peel and cut spuds.

Don't be too sure. Slow cooker, coffee maker, hand blender (for making sauces), pie maker (like a toasty maker but for pies).

Well,yes......but me and himself go out and about together mostly...so if he shows signs of buying stuff like that, I suggest he goes to Greggs and gets a bacon butty....that usuall works. he thinks with his stomach...it used to be something else...but I draw a veil over that. Don't want to be lowering the tone.
