Soldier John Fay from Blackburn killed in service in 1944

Hi Everybody,
Just been looking through the "Lancs Live" newspaper, which incorporates the Accrington Observer, see address below:

https://www.accringtonobserver.co.uk/

There's an interesting topic in this week’s edition. A Dutch village called Haaren is looking for relatives of a soldier called John Fay from Blackburn, who was unfortunately killed whilst freeing the village from the Germans in 1944. For more details please look up the story on the internet.

I just thought that this forum might be of help to this particular village.

Cheers

Philip Kenyon

It looks like they already have a lot of information regarding the family.

I will put my researching hat on later and see if I can find out anything else.

Alas, I have not been able to find out anymore than the village already know....his rank, the branch of service, date of his death and place of burial
his wife's name, that he had a daughter called Barbara and that she was married to a James Lucas.(who in 1939 lived in Saunders Rd in Blackburn)
I have not found any children from this union, but then maybe someone else out there might know another way to find out more info.
My information came from Ancestry
