Alan and Irene Smith

Can anyone help with the following query I received last night. Norman Smith married Gladys Rawlins in 1943 at St Pauls Oswaldtwistle and had 2 children Alan born 1944 and Irene born 1946.
Does anyone remember Alan or Irene and what happened to them.
