Cleggs- Accrington-Help?
Hi, I posted a help message earlier but I have more info now, so I'm hoping someone may be able to help!
My uncles 70th Birthday is this month & I have been trying to find a living family member on his fathers side- his father died before he was born & he knows nothing about him.
So I have his fathers name- William Ernest Clegg .died 1933.
William had a brother: Charles Alfred Clegg .born 1897
and a sister: Sarah Florence Clegg. born 1895 ( but seems to have gone by Florence)
They lived at 22 oswald St Accrington in the early 1900's
Then I have 19 West Crescent Accrington in the 1930's for William.
I don't know where to go from here- there are no marriage records online for Accrington, so I can't find if charles or Florence married &/or had children that I might trace.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
My uncle is also called William Ernest ( but goes by Bill ) born 1934.
His mother (my nan) was Dorothy Marsden (then married Bill Pearson).
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Janine.

No, he lives in Australia. Which is why it's so awkward to get any further with this.

I haven't researched the Marsden side yet, so I'm not sure. Janine.

Re: Cleggs- Accrington-Help?
Hi Lindsay
Did any of your Ormerod family own a small wooden house in the Pendleton area, where they used to visit in the summer ???? if so my aunt and uncle used to go with them, and I have a picture somewhere.
Also my dad of 80yrs + remembers an Omerod on the market who were butchers.

Re: Cleggs- Accrington-Help?
Apparently my great grandfather was called James Clegg,he was a supervisor at one of the big ring spinning mills, poss Stanhill, and went to Moscow to set uo the looms there when the company expanded. My mother has a clock that he was given in recognition of this, with an engraved plate on it.
