Re: rhyddings??
73 - 78 my years. Nobody mentioned Mr. Longstaff who was always falling asleep in GED but he could draw it better on the blackboard than we could on paper.
Mr Newton (GED)was great so was Mr. Waterhouse (MATHS)
Dickie Downs was chemistry and my form tutor.
We went through 4 RI teachers in one year

Re: rhyddings??
Oh yes Mr Waterhouse was a proper Maths teacher.
Remember his rhyme about A commuter?
A commuter is one who wakes and shaves and takes a train,
Then comes home to shave again.
I met him a few years after leaving Rhyddings. I was in Accy library looking for A level standard Maths book and he was delighted that I was back in education and doing Maths ( I had dropped out)

Re: rhyddings??
I attended Rhyddings 74-80, (Andrew Johnstone) and felt that it was a good school. Of course we had our characters...
Heffernan certainly needed medical help, and Goodall (history) very odd. I remember him hurling a huge bunch of keys at some kid who was looking out of the window day dreaming. He missed by inches, but if he had connected it would have been a crime scene! I also remember him dictating to us and pulling himself on to the counter and without missing a beat, washing his feet !??
I also cant believe no one has mentioned more about Miss Butterworth. A leggy goddess! She ruined me in my hormonally toxic years of puberty... oh how I wished to be a "victim" of a teacher love scandal.
Mr Elland was metalwork and was homicidal. I saw him take down Kevin Fey during class and we all stood around jaw dropped as he beat this kid up. We didn't know if we should step in as a class to defend Fey. It was an assault, not punishment, he should have been locked up.
Glad to see we all survived.

Re: rhyddings??
Andrew - What about Miss Lambert who we had for French in the first year!!!. Then when she left we got Heffernan. Remember him hitting -I'll leave his name out - and ? 's glassess flew across the room. Heffernan was bricking it.
I still see Mr. Watson and Mr. Parr when out walking.
