Educational model car engine.

I built a V8 model car engine earlier this year from a kit.
It's mostly see through plastic so when it turns you see how the valves and cams work together.
There are two distributers all timed up exactly as a real one and plug leads to little LED's like spark plugs.
There is an electric motor in the gear box to run it and I have set it all up to run just as a proper V8.
It's about ten inches long and I had my fun out of making it.
If anybody who had a youngster who is seriously interested in cars this is ideal for them to learn.
There is an instruction book and a tool to hold the cams and crank when you time it. Batteries included.

I will give it to anybody who wants it as an educational toy.
Please don't take it for profit or if you aren't interested in engines.

Or drop in the Read con after 7.30 and I will have it with me.

Re: Educational model car engine.

Engine now gone to a new home along with a four cylinder I built earlier.
Next project will be started as soon as I fit the gears to the steam engine.
I had a mishap with it. It ran out of water and melted the solder holding the brass blank into the two inch brass tube I used to make the boiler.
Soon be re-soldered but I will be looking to fit water level glass if I build anything similar.

Re: Educational model car engine.

Pics as promised.

Bit rushed because I had to take them while the lady waited to get home with it.
We arrived at my house at the same time and she had to pick someone up.

I love the old big V8's. a screaming little turbo engine is no substitute for cubes, as Eric will testify.
I have had two big Yank tanks with V8's in but petrol was a lot cheaper then.

Re: Educational model car engine.

Thank you Margaret, I was about his age when my father let me mess about in the garage where he kept his funeral and wedding limos.
They were 1938 Austin twenty sixes and it started my interest in mechanics.
One of my favourite jobs was sitting in the back of his 1920.s Rolls Royce hearse polishing the silver flower vases. There wasn't a coffin in at the same time though.
I was only about nine when he used to let me drive it back into the garage for the first time on my own.
I can remember the registration numbers of them all even today.

Allison, I am pleased the young un liked the engines, teach him young and he will pick it up quicker. The manuals I gave you will come in handy for him as well.
