It may be a different argument, but once we change one law like this then a second law invariably applies. That is the law of unintended consequences. While it can be easily construed that we do have a moral obligation to the Gurkhas, we also - as you quite correctly say - have a country governed by political ******* -and you will find that they will be incapable of controlling any consequential actions by others.

how dare these gurkahs ask to live in our country , dont they know we only allow people in who despise our way of life and insist we change our laws and beliefs to suit theirs

we have no room for people who dare fight along side our country

As far as I'm concerned, it boils down to one thing - these guys were prepared to lay their lives on the line for this country, so if they want to live here, they should be able to. As for future consequences, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
