If you could Teleport to anywhere....

If science came up with a way to Teleport or Time travel, where would you choose to go and why?

I am asking this question because I think it will be interesting to find out what my Accyweb friends think..

Also, because it is thread that might stimulate some more posts on a subject away from football(though some of the football fans might say that a time travel trip to watch the cup final in Nineteen hundred and frozen to death, would be their destination).
I want to know why you would go where you would go because it provides a 'back story' leading to others reminiscing about their feelings and experiences...add to that the fact that I am nosy(though I prefer their term 'curious').

For myself, there are many places I would love to Teleport to....I would, right now, Teleport to Brisbane, to where my sister lives.
As you know, recently we lost our Ma.
Things have seemed harder for my sister to come to terms with...and my visit would to lift her spirits, to talk about all the things I remember about Ma.

I suppose you think it would be just as easy(but a lot more expensive and time consuming to get on a plane and go and see her...do it in person.
Alas, this is not so easy when dealing with the legal wrangling of an estate.

Time travel, if that were possible, I would go back to a time when my Pa was still here.
I would ask him so many things that his head would spin...I would also tell him how much I loved him...before he died.

I would visit his mother, my grandma...and ask her if she remembered her father...and what he was called, because right now on my family tree she is a fatherless child.

So away you go...please tell me where you would go and include the stories.

Well, this is an interesting one Margaret, right know I would go back to see my mam just before she died, and tell her we all did our best but unfortunately the Doctor's thought they new better.

I think I might also want to take a teleport trip to Sydney to visit my brother...not to socialise with him, but to kick hin in the nuts...he is being a real pain in the rectum over things relating to Ma(he believes her home to have been valued too low)...and at this point I can see her estate not being sorted for a long long time....so he is definitely not my flavour of the month

The Moon! To see if the Americans really did go there.

How's that for a discussion starter? :)

Well, it is not a place that appeals to me.
My niece is in Iceland( the country..not the shop)...and that is somewhere else that does not appeal to me...it appeals even less after my niece told me that one of their meals consisted of Shark which had been fermented underground(bleugh, and double bleugh)

My idea of teleporting was so that you could whizz somewhere, but still be back to sleep in your own bed.

If it were possible to teleport somewhere and the science did not affect my camera....I would go to visit the Taj Mahal, I would go to Tibet, China...into the hilly villages, the Galapagos islands...I would visit the little pacific islands...purely to capture pictures.

I don't really want to stay in any of these places...to try the food(as you know I am not a fan of foreign muck)....I would just like to see the views and capture them, then be home in time for tea.

Some people would surely still believe that any further trip to the moon was a hoax, whether by teleporting or conventional technology.

Not sure about that Mark, we've come a long way since 1969 & the tech available along with all the readily available resources we now take for granted would surely make it more difficult to get away with any fakery.

This site has a lot of info about the common comments that the landing were a fraud but this made me smile-

"One last note: a Facebook acquaintance of mine once made a very lucid point: this was the Nixon administration – they couldn’t even keep secret a few goons breaking into a hotel room. Just sayin’."

If I could teleport anywhere in time, it would be to 4th June 1966, the day we married, then I could have another 52 years with my beautiful Yvonne.

Aww, I wish I had the power to make that happen Gerard.

You must have a wealth of memories...those are the things that you use as a lifebelt when the waves of sadness threaten to drown you...and pictures, you must have stacks of pictures too.

I know from my own recent experiences, these things were what made us laugh, they made us cry too...but really, they are a bit like a time machine.

You know how I like to compose bits of doggerel...this is one of the verses I wrote to express how we felt.

She left this life and closed the door.
She left us here, still wanting more.
One more smile, one more talk...
Another tale, another joke.
I'm feeling sad and so bereft,
For memories are all she left.
Memories do not wilt or fade,
They are the things her love has made.

Can empathise, hilleluk, as with my wife, gifted with afterthought, doctors didn't know best.

Be at the Wham when Stanley reach the magic number. Sorry Margaret, couldn't resist it. I would love to go back to the Isles of Scilly, went there in 57 and 58, loved it. Back to Oswaldtwistle in 1980 when mum passed away, it was too sudden and we were too far away.
