Dance Bands in the 30's/40's

I am trying to find out as much as possible about bands that existed in the area during the 30's and 40's. My father, Ted Pickup, played for the Accrington Military Band, The Knaves, Eddie McGarry's band and Sid Ash Ashmead's band. Sadly I do not have very many photos of any of the above and am Trying to find anybody that could further me with any information.
I know that Eddie McGarry's band did radio broadcasts from the BBC in Manchester during the war years but again I have, to date, drawn a blank with the BBC.
Any help would be most appreciated.

really wish i could help you with this as its the music era that i enjoy. the only chances you have now are just keep on asking. some of these local band members may of played for better known bands in recording sessions or made the odd record itself . if you cannot do it yourself get someone to post this on all social media sites as there is bound to be someones grandaughter or grandson who may pick it up. my parners father played with ambrose,s band both pre and post war and he guested with local bands on occasions. be interesting what you come up with as one name will lead to another i,m sure. best of luck.
