Yes but because of the weather they're still apathetic.

What's different now?

Hundreds of thousands lost their homes in America, in the Great Depression.

There were no riots.

Even though people had a bit more 'get up and go', than the pampered society of today.

It's hard enough to encourage people to get off their arses to vote.

Mass rioting in Britain's way too much effort.

Might get the odd skirmish.
