If anyone is going to e-mail Britcliffe it may be a good idea to mention that if he gets behind this scheme it may come to be known as Britcliffes Folly.

Re: big bumps on the coppice...?

Architect Peter Beard strongly believes that such sites should be approached with a greater awareness of their past, both historically and politically.

He says: “Issues of history and memory and a sense of what places are within a collective memory, whether national or local, are very important in considering how one deals with these places. The average business park planner is not necessarily concerned with such things.”

If he can show such concern for a business park why hasn't he got the same attitude towards our Coppice?

I am surprised at you lot for running down poor Peter Beard! You only have to glance at his award winning design in 2001 to show how he has the knack of amalgamating kids of all ages to skateboard or cycle all over his wonderful designs......What wonderful graffiti they could paint on those sweeping curves.....

But of course being a designer of business parks, THEY have 24/7 security...

Question Re: big bumps on the coppice...?

I am still a little confused ere as I never saw the designs of the bumps- is there a link?

Only I found out where they were:
19-24 JANUARY Hyndburn designs Accrington Central Library, James Street; Accrington & Rossendale College; Accrington Town Hall, Blackburn Road; Asda, Hyndburn Road, Accrington; Huncoat Primary School; Hyndburn Sports Centre, Henry Street, Church

''Now local people have a chance to see and comment on design ideas proposed for Burnley (Crown Point), Hyndburn (The Coppice, Peel Park, Accrington) and Ribble Valley (Kemple End), as part of a thorough public consultation process which will inform decisions about designs selected for further development.
From those concept ideas, we want to select designs to be developed, and shaped by the influence of local people.''

Also whats this about a 'panopticon' from the observer?

Lightbulb Re: big bumps on the coppice...?

I see, ta Acrylic-Bob!

Only why is it a diff image from observer? At least there is details of phone poll to voice opinions:
''Now you can make sure YOUR voice is heard by taking part in our exclusive phone poll. If you agree with the idea ring 09012 290067 for Yes; if you disagree ring 09012 290068 for No. Phone lines open at 9am on Friday (4th) and close at noon on Wednesday (9th). Calls cost 25p. The results of the poll will be announced in next week’s paper. '' Observer
http://www.accringtonobserver.co.uk/..._id=12005.html

Surely then we still have time to make our opinions heard- n counted, as its only been a few weeks since exhibitions according to NWDA.

Re: big bumps on the coppice...?

The pic in the Observer was before Tellytubbyland had been decided on I think. It seems that by having rejected the flying saucer earlier we have been lumbered with the worst of a bad lot. Even the singing ringing tree would be better than thos hideous mounds. Either way it will not be maintained, it will not have easier access and it will be vandalised - this is Hyndborg we are talking about.

Actually, come to think of it, isn't it a legal requirement now to have disabled access?
