NO MENTION OF HOW MANY BAGS WILL BE COLLECTED

Dear Mick

Thank you for your enquiry.

Your next refuse collection, weather depending will be on the 22nd of January. The next recycling collection, again weather depending will be on the 15th of January.

We understand some resident in the Borough have been without a collection now for up to six weeks, therefore we are allowing residents to present any extra bags next to the wheelie bin on the next refuse collection day.

Of you have missed a recycling collection day and have extra items to present you can do so by placing them in carrier bags separate as you would with the normal blue box and bags. We will not collect items put out in black bags.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused, understandably the situation is out of our control.

If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Services Help Line on 01254 399 988.

I hope this information is of use to you.

Kind Regards

Sophie Bibby
Customer Contact Centre Officer
Hyndburn Borough Council
So now the useless gits are saying Jan 22nd fer refuse weather depending, considering ours was last emptied Dec 19Th this is not just pathetic, but wholly unacceptable. n with the forecast 22nd aint looking certain.

I think it does matter. If all the roads were gritted I doubt that people would be being sent home!

You would hope they have Andrew. Although it would seem that there's a shortage of grit throughout the country. I've just read that there stopping gritting the hard shoulder on the motorways, in order to preserve grit.

when they were sent home early this week, a shortage of grit hadn't been mentioned. the fact some main roads were not gritted then is down to rank bad leadership by whomever is responsible,in my book, this thread is about bins being emptied, the fact we have had a bout of severe weather is a side issue.

I've no wish to appear pessimistic, but with the weather not looking to good for the weekend, the question arises will the bin men be back emptying bins on Monday. I suppose we will have to wait and see.

Well there being a lack of grit was obviously why there are severe weather conditions preventing bins from being collected. Anyway fair enough this thread is about the bins being emptied, was just trying to see when this might be fixed rather than just being at mercy of the weather.

Well they can't use it as an excuse if there wasn't a plan in place. Which is why I asked.. but never mind.

That doesn't explain my question though. Obviously the county council had grit in stock, it's Winter after all. We've had the worst winter in what, 50 years, and it looks like the grit stocks have been caught out by this, thus the plan is to grit only certain roads. This has prevented the bin men from getting to houses, and plan is in place to deal with that.

My question is, is there a plan in place to get additional grit at short notice in case of unexpected severe conditions like this? As I see it we would be getting bins collected if such a plan was in place as there would be enough grit to go around all streets not just main routes.

Just heard on the news that the government has told ALL councils to reduce their gritting by 25% in order to conserve grit.

if teh council are saying this they are damn liars weve had much much much much worse than this in teh last 20 years never mind teh last 50 and schools stayed open, buses ran and roads were cleared and most importantly of all bins were emptied

maybe teh problem is they cant drag the wheelie bins with teh tiny wheels they have unlike the old days when bins were lifted and carried to teh binwaggon as it drove along the alley

soft arse rules and regulations are to blame not teh weather
