different nationalities have been coming into our country for years and years without any problem whatsoever even before ww2. they came over got jobs and worked without resentment and quickly became part of their local community. my mother with her family came here pre first world war from poland. i wanted to learn polish but wouldn,t teach me as she said we,re all english in this house so you don,t need to learn it as your english is hardly good enough as it is.

Nope I'll let it stand 'warts and all', it may be given 5 that if it goes live the rest will appear, however the main point of it is there, 'Community Leaders' are undemocratic.

I wonder if the community leaders were created to get these people 'on board' so to speak.
Initially, to give them some sense of belonging...as a way to promote cohesion.
If that was what was intended, it has failed.
It has, instead, created division and fails those in the community who are not Muslim.

Anything that separates the community is divisive, I have one vote, two representatives (one local, one parliamentary), no-one should be given an extra layer that is listened to, when it doesn't and can't represent all of the community.

I have been trying to find out how these community leaders came into being...and who, in the community sponsors/appoints them.
I have been unsuccessful in finding anything much of any real relevance.
