About devolution in general ... I don't think it's off topic, nor is it a bad idea. I realize the UK is small in area ... not much bigger than Wood Buffalo National Park ... but there are distinct regions. "North and South" is only the start. (Not a bad novel, by the way). The US of Eh operates well enough with a federal system ... as does Canada, with Quebec as a distinct society and Alberta as a spawning ground for rednecks. Think of it as taking powers from Westminster without giving up a unified foreign policy, military policy, and general economic and monetary policy (keeping the Bank of England, for eg.). Strong regional governments in, say, Manchester, York, and Knuzden could deal with regional issues. It would definitely work for Wales, Cornwall, Yorkshire, Lancashire etc.

so if scotland go it alone will the scottish MPs be evicted from parliament or just shot on the spot as foreign invaders ?

hmm i wonder if been a scottish mp witout english,welsh and irelands tax payers money will be as lucrative for them .For all we know there may not be enough money to fiddle to make a carreer in polotics worth while

all I can say though im glad I don't live in Scotland at this moment in time ... theres no mention of the yes and no camps fighting in falkirk on Saturday .. nor of the gentleman who was beat up because he had an England shirt on ... on any of the local websites up there ... come Friday all hell will be let loose ... if the yes wins - you voted against your country ... if the no wins ... well you would vote for England ... and no matter what theres just a chance that if its the wrong answer .. you may just get a bruising ...

it has all become very ugly...and there is precious little that anyone can do about it now.
Once the genie is out of the bottle it is a damn hard job to get it back in.

more often than not though Margaret the wheelchair access you need a wheelchair and the assistance scheme .... don't think theyd accept a suitcase in a wheelchair ...
