Donkey Jailed For Theft.
You couldn’t make it up.
AFP – Thursday, September 18 05:06 pm CAIRO (AFP) - An Egyptian donkey has been jailed for stealing corn on the cob from a field belonging to an agricultural research institute in the Nile Delta, local media reported on Thursday. The ass and its owner were apprehended at a police checkpoint that had been set up after the institute's director complained that someone was stealing his crops, the state-owned Al-Ahram daily said. The unnamed ungulate was found in possession of the institute's corn and a local judge sentenced him to 24 hours in prison. Stupid laws some countries have
 obvious the donkey was a get away vehicle(Sort of LOL).And the owner only gets a small fine At first though I thought it was a thread about Tony(Donkey)Adams Ex-Arsenal LOL

Having visited Cairo, and been driven through it in a taxi, I'd guess that poor little donkey had 24 hours of sheer bliss in prison. It was heartbreaking to see the poor donkeys pulling carts loaded 6' high with bags of god-knows-what, plus the whip-wielding owner and all his family, along Cairo's horrendous roads where traffic drove 4 abreast at an average of 60 mph.
I hope lots of Egyptian donkeys hear about it and get themselves sentenced to prison. It's the only holiday they'll get.

With good behavior it could be out in 12 Hrs.Hardly a good example to set to other criminally minded Donkeys.
Will it be tagged? Can the authorities give us some assurances that it will not re-offend? We are getting to soft!! |
