Re: For attention of patients of Myrtle House Surgery

I requested a home visit from my new doc at 9.30am today and a young woman doc arrived at 12.30 - very impressed.

I had a fall and have had concussion headaches and bruised spine for 3 weeks. I delayed seeking medical help until I was on the new doc's list. It was worth the painful wait to get such excellent care.

She is also arranging frequent district nurse visits to apply pain relief cream to my back and physiotherapists visits with the aim of increasing my mobility.

Margaret, I am so glad that you have got a doctor that will look after you in such an efficient way.
That is worth more than gold.
Take care of yourself.

Just got back from an appointment with Dr Dixon and he told me he will officially retire on Friday 25th September .
Shame, he is such a good family doctor
Just like to wish him all the best in his retirement

Mick that is sad for the patients...they won't find another doctor like him so easily.
However, I do Wish Dr Dixon well in his retirement. He has worked hard and deserves a bit of time to do the things that he enjoys.

I understood that Dixon and Manuel jointly owned the nursing home on Thwaites Rd Ossy.

I wonder if they have sold up there too.

No I Think Dr Dixon is still very much involved with that....don't know about Dr Manuel though.

Re: For attention of patients of Myrtle House Surgery

Well sad to say but after 34 yrs at Myrtle House I'll be looking for a new doctor, I went to Dr Sherma today & will never go to that doctor again he was so rude & dismissive!! It just doesn't have any resemblance to only a few months ago when Dr Dixon & Dr Manuel were there when you could book an appointment for a couple of days notice to tell work! Now it's that book on day rubbish that the other surgery they have do I know as I recommended my friend to go to mine as she could never get an appointment & on the off chance they did it was with a different doctor. Well they've obviously brought that with them as I've had to go back 3 Times now & not seen same one yet! Seems the same doctor only goes one day a wk how can that be any good? Worse still is it's the second time the ones I've seen we're rude & disinterested the other one was Dr Manjooran, the only one who gave good old fashioned care was the lady Dr Vagesva but she's been there a long time so I don't think she's part of the new surgery. It's a real shame as I've always been treated really well by the nurses too & the receptionists have been there a long time & are all really helpful I even had to ring the manager a couple of months ago & she was really nice & sorted it for me. It's not going downhill it's already there & Dr Dixons only just left.

Re: For attention of patients of Myrtle House Surgery

I called in the surgery near the end of September to see about flu jabs . Fortunately Doctor Dixon was just going into the reception area , so I was able to give him my thanks and best wishes for the future .

When I went for my flu jab the nurse who gave it to me was Doctor Dixon's daughter . I told her that with the retirement of her dad and Doctor Manuel this area had lost its best General Practice .

We must move on with the new doctors now. Doctors Dixon and Manuel have both taken a well earned retirement and I wish them both well.

Maybe the best one you have been to, I have no problems with my surgery in Ossy, maybe you should see if they have any places

Thanks . I'll give it some thought if the Myrtle House practice compels me to make a move . I'm staying put for the time being and am just waiting to see how things develop .

If it is the Rhyddings Practice that Neil is alluding to, I can say that I have worked with a number of Doctors from the Cornerstone practice, and they are all very good doctors.
My Ma is registered with them and at 87 she has had a few medical emergencies and never once has she been made to wait......and she sees the same doctor every time.

Yep that the one Margaret. I can phone up and get an appointment same day especially if it's something urgent and often if it isn't

Neil, I have to say that in my dealings with this practice(on behalf of Ma) I have been most impressed.
You don't even have to do battle with a dragon of a receptionist.
Everyone in the practice is kind and considerate...just what you need when you are ill and worried.

Re: For attention of patients of Myrtle House Surgery

Everything worked perfectly well until Myrtle House "merged" with Oswald Medical Centre. Then things had to be done their way. That's when things started to go downhill. Why fix something if it's not broken?
