Re: Hugging

You have to be careful though when you think about it in some parts of the world you can still be stoned to death for such public shows of affection, as wynonie said god forbid we should upset anybody's cultural sensibilities in OUR country. I will probably now be called a blasphemer for bringing gods name into this

Re: Hugging

I can't see any harm in spontaneous hugs between adults if it doesn't offend any of the parties involved. What's a hug between friends anyway....it wasn't like what she saw was something taken from 50 Shades of you-know-what.
I acknowledge that it was at a school but really.....

Nah WM221, we're all Jeezuzuzez, little sunbeams according to our resident fire & brimstone merchant, so surely he'd be happy with hugging.

Doubt it Frank, he's on the path of righteousness, no wanderings or turn offs allowed. Unless he wants to come hug us all in here.

This.
Ridiculous IMO. Where do you draw the line here?

I may sound a bit of a hippie here but more love/care/kindness does not do the world any harm, and no children are going to be scarred from seeing affection (if that's in any way part of the issue).

There was a rule at my primary school that pupils were not allowed to touch other pupils. No exceptions. If a friend was upset, you weren't allowed to give him or her a hug or even put your hand on their shoulder.

I thought it was horrible then as a 7 year old, and I still think It's horrible now.

Maybe the two female teachers don't want to be hugged but are too "shy" to complain.
Maybe the parent wanted a hug so was disappointed.????? What a world we are creating.
He's a very tactile bloke and only hugs girls/women that he has a good relationship with. NONE of them dislike the experience and one in particular likes the contact (emotionally not sexually ). He doesn't hug the blokes but warm handshakes with left hand on right shoulder/elbow are almost an equivalent.

Sounds like that school in Croydon that banned hugs etc threatening detention for Huggers. Was it one we'd know?
I must say I'm tempted to organise mass hugging next week. With any luck, the message may get across loud and clear.

That school was Calverley C of E school, Leeds district.

I hated the school anyway, not least because at that age I had long since decided I wasn't religious. But that rule! You weren't allowed to link arms with anybody etc.

I read about the Croydon school thing-ludicrous IMO.

Humans physically interact as part of socialisation, why that isn't common sense to some people I have no idea.

Re: Hugging

Some people won't stop moaning until we are all separated and women end up in purdah. What a petty, ridiculous complaint, obviously from someone not accustomed to the normal social interactions that we, in this country, take for granted. If they don't like it then they should keep their eyes to the floor or sod off. Simple. I think sometimes, some people complain because they know they're going to cause a ripple and also, just because they can.
