When I was in The Royal a few weeks ago the bloke in the next bed as complaining about the heat and no windows open, but the staff would't open a window because some of the elderly men were rather poorly, so they brought fans in

It must be different down here in sub-tropical Cheshire. When I was in hospital, in January, the window in the ward was often opened, especially in the mornings. My bed was next to the window and I used to get under the bedclothes, with my dressing gown on, to keep warm while I got some fresh (generally freezing) air.

Just by the way - I was in hospital with pneumonia.
