they did not deal with it to cause themselves work imho probably had the cojones but didnt want the crap that comes with it. imho.

makes me wonder though who was the last home secretary who was tough on immegration and other topics that the public at large wants. words like being tough on crime usually end up with longer suspended sentances if they are caught anyway especially if you are a mother with kids.

I cannot think of a particularly tough Home Secretary.
I can think of some who were as useful as a knitted condom….
Jack Straw was one of these…..Jacqui Smith was another….and of course Theresa May.
But finding a good one….they must be as rare as hens teeth.

at least in the 18th century they did not hold the job down long.
