Nick Griffin ...

just going through the bbc website like i normally do when i came across this ... BBC NEWS | UK | UK Politics | Griffin to contest Barking seat

One of our MEP's for this region has decided to run for election to westminster in the general election. The constituency he is going to run for is in London. Surely he is going to stand down from the European Parliament before the general election so then he can give his utmost to trying to win the seat. But then again there is no mention of that in that report is there? He is supposed to be representing us in Europe .. not fighting an election in London. Then theres the cost of running another election for his seat ..

Re: Nick Griffin ...

Posted via Mobile Device Hopefully the vile creature stands down. Then, with a bit of fortune he won't win another seat. Ever.

Re: Nick Griffin ...

He's not the first British politican to do this , Ian Paisley went one better he held 3 seats, he was an MEP (Euro Parliament), MP (British House of Commons), MLA (member of Legislative Assembly, Northern Ireland) .

Re: Nick Griffin ...

There's more chance of me voting Labour than Griffin standing down from his European seat, the fact is there is nothing stopping him being a member of both Parliaments, as Eric pointed out about Paisley

Re: Nick Griffin ...

I actually wish there was. I can understand it at parish council and borough and even county level .. but when its at constituency and european level .. no theyre in 2 different countries .. And before anyone says anything ive always held this view ..

Paisley was a person on his own .. even my mother didnt like him and she was unionist by birth .. she called him left right and centre .. but his constituents were at least all in the same area .. this one .. london and the north west of england ... now how close is that.

Re: Nick Griffin ...

There's currently a bill going through the European Union which prevents people from being a member of both the European Parliament and the UK Parliament. He'll have to stand down from one if he were to be elected as an MP.

so your happy with him to spend his time campaigning in london rather than representing us in europe or in his constituency which he gets paid for?

I don't want him to represent me no. I don't think he has many intentions of being a hard working MEP whether he campaigns in London or not..
