Postal Service

I was talking to my mum last night, and she was telling me about some changes that are to be made to our postal service. The posties will no longer be leaving the post office at 7am to commence deliveries, but will be leaving about 2-3 hours later. They are downsizing/getting rid of the night shift, so therefore the day shift, which begins at 5am, will have to do the sorting before leaving to do deliveries. Basically, when this starts, roughly in the next couple of weeks, all our post will be arriving much later than usual, nearer to lunch time or early afternoon. Just thought I'd let you all know, as it's no problem for me what time my mail comes, but some people do complain/ moan at the postie, when they are just a few minutes late (as my mum can verify)
Also, if you are running a buisness, and depend on your post coming early, you can arrange with the post office to have it delivered early, but there will be a charge.

Could I possibly suggest that you write or e.mail to the director of human resources at the Post Office/Royal Mail? Explain the problem....he may have some sympathy..he's a Church lad, originally.

Re: Postal Service

they have had to downsize considerbly recently. this would be a massive cost cutting exercise. will probably save them millions in the long run. we need the royal mail. good luck to them. its just a shame it is going to affect the workforce there more than enyone. thats what bothers me. could mean people out of work orlosing out on money.

Re: Postal Service

I know that my mum will certainly be working slightly longer hours, and the loads are going to be a bit heavier to carry too.
