Thats ok but without sell buy dates shops would be able to sell anything and you would not find out if it was ok till you got it home

Re: Sell by date

Of course you are right to a degree Neil, but I remember the days before 'sell by' dates and we survived.
And if you bought something that was 'off' you'd take it back and get a replacement.

I try, where possible to buy fresh foods, and if I can buy stuff without it being sheathed in plastic, then I do...though sometimes it is hard....everything seems to come in a tough plastic overcoat these days.

The CHICKENS are in a pen. The chicks are still too young to go outdoors and are still living with heat lamps. They'll also go in a pen.

The University allocated us a garden at the end of the rugby field and the pen runs next to it. We grow tomatoes, carrots, garlic, onions, potatoes, leeks, strawberries, pumpkins, raddishs... loads of things. It's a very satisfying way of living.

Re: Sell by date

Its the wrapped in plastic food that is impossible to sniff until your break into it. Places like Asda/Tesco would be the problem with no sell by dates
