I think you are in a slightly different position than the Council workers. Your company can make a pay rise relative to how well it is performing and the profits it is making.

Out of interest what percentage increase will be applied to the house/flat rents this year?

Not to derail, but until you can give examples of terrorists that needed more than 28 days detention to convict your accusation is pretty hypocritical. Gutted.

(Sorry for derailing)

Why is it hypocritical?? I did not say I would offer examples just that I would much rather the extra days in custody than any terroist slipping through the net!!!
May one ask why you have appeared again just to try and talk down to regular contributors??? You just appear to stick your oar in to try and stir things up without actually saying anything constructive!!!

The outcome should be that there is no pay rise in my opinion.
World recession is well documented, Brown has ferked up our own economy as I see it at the present.

People should always have the right to air a grievance with their employer, but I think the strikers have backed a losing horse in this instance.

We are all going to have to tighten our belts UNISON members too

From what I read, MPs are not doing too well in the belt tightening department.

Why I do things is nothing to do with any of this.

You're holding Cyfr up to standards that you yourself can't meet. I'm sure he didn't say he could offer examples either. That's why it's hypocritical. If I continued it would utterly derail the thread, so I won't.

On this side of the big salty lake, MPs and MLAs vote themselves an increase whenever they feel that the voters are not paying attention Is it the same over there?

Just a thought: if MPs had to strike for more money, who would really miss them ... ?
