Re: The end of an era

Car dealerships charge an arm and a leg for servicing during warranty
Now that a warranty is still valid when a service is done elsewhere, they have lost a big source of revenue - suppose more dealerships will go to the wall too - I'm not sorry (greedy barstewards)

Re: The end of an era

wasnt exactly the ideal place to have a car dealership with all polution in a residential area lets hope they build much needed houses to bring house prices in the area down and to families only .not the greedy rip off letting agencies which have sprung up to exploit the recent housing situation..

It was something else before Walkers. Did it have something to do with Frasers? Whatever it was I think Walkers went into partnership.

I thought the woodyard was further up but it's a long time ago. I remember some chap called Jack something who was a joiner. Was it Jack Davies?

Walkers and Farrimond merged, I though it was Walkers place but I could have it the wrong way round

Hindle! That's the one. Thanks Grego. Walkers went into partnership with Hindle's and then Hindle and Walker went into partnership with Farrimond and the Hindle name was dropped. Don't know why I thought it had some Fraser connection.

the woodyard went right up to the raggy back willow, that end was stored timber under an asbestos roof, stretched a good way down sydney street, where the covered store ended was a yard type of area carrying on down the length of sydney street, a couple of cabins etc, but room for wagons to acess for loading purposes, the yard stretched to where walkers is. thats my recollection, was a wood trellis type thingy supporting the asbestos roof, which we used to navigate along looking for a watchman etc, never did see one.
