Mancie, lad, you've never met Jaysay and Boeing Guy - number two crops, harringtons, braces, half-mast levis and cherry red DMs. You don't want to mess with these lads!

In all seriousness, Mancie, although I like to characterize you and C'mon as classic "Citizen Smith" types, a constantly recurring theme of mine (to the point of tedium, some might say) is that I'd like to see MORE leftwing/Labour types arguing their point of view on here. Why don't Graham, Bernard, Claytonender, Clare Pritchard, Ken and others of a similar persuasion come on here and present a reasoned critique of the present government and, more importantly, suggest an alternative? I'd probably agree with some of their views. What winds people up (and to be fair, this is more C'mon's approach than yours) is a post consisting of a few garbled words followed by a link to some newspaper article. So come on, Labour party supporters, fight your corner!

Re: The Tories

Wyn, it would be lovely to have a good old fashioned debate on here, with some of those mentioned.
But to reply to cmon, in a way he will understand:
Quote:
. In the autumn of 2008, Atos Origin was one subject of a government enquiry after it attracted comment from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who said that the company would have "to explain itself" after a memory stick with passwords and user names for an important government computer system was found in the car park of a public house.[ The DWP, who had awarded Atos Origin the Government Gateway contract, later confirmed that the memory stick had only held the data of just a handful of people and all of their password information was encrypted.
A little bit of cut and paste, now you must excuse me as I need to go and whip ones servants.

Yes but not likley to happen..I can see how tedious and useless most of the political posts on here must be.. but this is a "forum".. if some of the more politically active members posted on national affairs then there maybe a decent debate.. fact is they did in the run up to the last General Election then signed off when it was over.

I wouldn't say so, there are things that have been done by the present Government that I personally don't agree with & in that respect I would say that my views would be aligned with yours. Also the last Government did things I didn't agree with, but there isn't a lot that can be done to change the situation.

What I'd like to see is a ruling government, be it coalition or single party that puts the peoples opinions & concerns at the forefront of everything they do & working towards delivering exactly what people want as opposed to politicians lining their own nests & catering for the interests of their associates.

Re: The Tories

Me too son....But I reckon I might just die waiting for it to happen.

There is no political party that cares much for the hope, opinions or thoughts of the electorate........They are all cut from the same old musty bit of cloth....there is very little difference between what they do(which is, once in office, any old thing they want.... regardless of their promises) They spend time and energy back biting, name calling and point scoring......this energy could be better used to think up some relevant realistic plans to drag the UK out of the EU, close the gates to scroungers from other countries, and sort out the problems that beset the country.

(not a cut and paste to be seen)

Problem is “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

Not dealing with the deficit hasn't exactly gone well for Greece and Portugal.

No, Andrew, I don't think it is that at all.

I am just sick of politicians saying one thing and doing another......not listening to the electorate on the things that the electorate consider to be important......I am fed up of them treating us all like we cannot use our critical thought processes......of them living high on the hog, while we struggle to make ends meet.......Spending money we cannot afford on things like the recent 'Happiness Index'.......what on earth was that all about?
And it cost us - the tax payer, 2 million pounds(or at least that is what is reported).
What kind of idiot spends money on something that an 11 year old could probably tell you?
