Tree watch.

I have just returned from Accrington, with my Eye-Spy book of trees.

All the other trees in Hyndburn are starting to show signs of life, and are begining to bud. Sadly the new oak trees planted on Broadway still look so dormant they might be dead.

I think planting them in November, when it was minus six, was not such a wise or cost effevtive move. At least they looked photogenic for the 'grand reopening'.

The first person to see any signs of life from the Broadway oaks can claim a lucky acorn or some karma.

I think you might be right there Garinda. There is more life in a branch of Muti's magnolia tree that blew down in the storms.....that has buds on it and they look ready to open any day when the sun warms the air just a bit.

Well, don't worry, when they start doing the top bit of the road they can sort out the trees at the same time.

Whats the going rate for seven twenty foot high oak trees.

[By the way Katex if my power explodes I promise not to wipe it on the curtains.]

Re: Tree watch.

I believe they're talking about another £250k for the top part of the road, they might be able to find a few quid to go to B&Q for some more trees out of that sort of money.

Re: Tree watch.

Lets hope thet don't plant the next ones in a drought, if these ones are dead, and forget to water them in.

I just had a terrible vision of a certain council leader staggering out of the Rose and Crown, trying to water the baskets with his little hose.

So that's why they are all withered and brown.

HBC's glorious (self pontificating himself) would do such a thing bears not thinking about. He should set an example to others.

Seems to be about forty quid per tree.

Times seven = two hundered and eighty knicker.

Rather a lot, just for a photo opportunity at the 'grand reopening'.

Acorn town needs its oaks so that must be the thinking behind it.

They wouldnt plant them just for photo's and to be "borrowed" by unsavoiry elements.
