It depends on the size of the keg you order:
288 pints = 1 barrel
144 pints = 1 kilderkin
72 pints = 1 firkin
An old imperial barrel was equivalent to just under 240 pints and I believe you can also get 40 pint barrels for parties and such from breweries.

Re: Two More Pubs Close
I think you'll find that most breweries nowadays tend to use Aluminium or steel barrels which are usually 50 ltr or 30 ltr. I know for a fact that S&N, Belhaven, Guinness & Bulmers do, this just makes it easier for export due to the Europeans & their weights & measures rulings.

Your right keith the Montague arms was a stand alone pub right on the bus route, it was the only building left standing as all the surrounding houses had been demolished, used to go in the Monty any Thursday, Friday, or Saturday if I was working the South London run for Shopfitters. They called the Landlord Creeping Jesus, because of his long hair which was usually all the colours of the rainbow, he was also the Drummer, along with Peter London on Moog and Jimmy Jones Singer Comedian Compare. I still have I vinyl LP recoded live at the Monty. When it eventually closed they three of them moved to a night club somewhere in Kent called the King and Queen, can't think which town it was in may have been Canterbury but not sure. Can't remember Alan Luke though Keith, not by name anyway

Sorry about that, but 11 years of running pub quizzes has left me full of useless trivia. It's also left me full of real ale but I prefer to think of that as 'research'.

Well no it is not quite that simples,You must have a degree in Metaphysical Science that must include an honours in at least one of the following;
1) Ontology.
2) Cosmology.
3) Epistemology
I'd go for option 3 if I were you .
