War in Europe

Since Thursday evening, Russia armed & belligerent crossed sovereign borders into Ukraine, it is getting air time & coverage on the news, radio & papers, but it doesn't seem as though people are really taking heed & life seems to be carrying on as normal.

This appears to my way of thinking as being somewhat foolish, the Brits, Americans & other NATO countries are supplying arms & weaponary to the Ukrainian forces, while others (in particular the western eu nations) are shoving thumbs up butts while humming & haaing, added to that the motheaten & somewhat befuddled "Bear" has the eus' energy plums nestled in its wopping great hairy paw with big claws ready to rip & tear.

Not a good place to be really! And when it's not grumpy Bear holding tight, "Pooh Bear" in the form of Xi & the yellow peril are out back eyeing the honeycomb of europe too, also with a ready paw. However did we let ourselves get into such a predicament?

Re: War in Europe

It is a really big worry.
Putin banks on bully boy tactics and they have worked for so many years because he has been allowed to get away with it.
When a foreign power crosses borders with the kind of military vehicles that they are using…it is a blatant act of aggression.
The Ukrainians have been brave and have met the challenges with guts.
To see elderly ladies practicing with big guns says everything about what they think of Putin.
And an 80 year old man turning up at a recruiting centre wanting to register to fight put the politicians in a number of countries to shame.

All Russian Nationals should be deported, their assets confiscated…..sanctions are weedy and will worry Putin not one jot.
It is not him who will be disadvantaged…it will be the little people who suffer.
They need to rise up and crush this despot.
Will it happen?
I don’t know.
But if it does not then Estonia and some of the Nordic countries need to be a bit worried.

This has a strong feel of deja poo about it…….Same crap as 1939….that was a little Schaffler too.

Re: War in Europe

There are reports that peace talks will take place in Belarus…..why Belarus?
Belarus is a supporter of Russia and its president is a pal of Putin.
Might it just be a bit of window dressing to buy time for Russia to replace its depleted munitions ( by all accounts these are running low with very little opportunity for the munitions factories to make more….lack of raw materials ).
Will it be China that lends a hand ?

There has been a run on Russian banks and interest rates have soared to 20%…..the rouble is at an all time low and it is said that a thousand Russian troops have surrendered.

Who knows what this mad dictator will do next, but I fear that it will not be a peaceful solution.

Cashy, whether you like Truss or not….she is not the reason that Putin is talking about using a nuclear option, there is more to it than that…not least that he is an unhinged megalomaniac who has never before been challenged.
That is the crux of it.
He is like a child who has never been told ‘NO’.

The despot is desperately short of vitamin pb…..it needs to be given directly to the brain for it to cure the current situation

Re: War in Europe

always wonder how popular putin is with the russian man or woman on the street. you could always add the russian forces into it. problem with countries like that is that we,ll never know until he eventually goes and when he does the MSM will slant it to their agenda as we know.

Some support what he's doing, quite a few of them who are living here. That said there is also a groundswell in Russia itself as lot of the public weren't aware of what he was upto & now they know aren't best pleased but his thug police are crushing disent.

As to the military, lots of conscripts, young lads who don't want to be & are not inclined towards military life. Intense basic training as Infantry, point, shoot, stab, then a few days specialising as gunners & armour drivers, same principle, point & shoot but no indepth skills or knowledge, a half decent militia could break these youngsters.

Unfortunately the above are of no value to Putin & are simply the waves of destruction to take the brunt. Meanwhile while his "Hard core" professionals & fanatics are held back to roll over the resistance once its' used its firepower & limited munitions on the fodder.

Re: War in Europe

There are reports…admittedly in MSM that Putins popularity has surged in Russia.
However these polls are state sponsored so it is debatable as to how reliable they are.

There are videos of these young conscripts crying and saying that they thought they were just going on a training exercises….not killing innocent people.

By the day the situation is getting more worrying…..the deputy leader has said that if ww3 happens, then it will be nuclear….and suggested that a nuclear warhead my be detonated near Britain.
Where Near Britain?
And am I wrong in thinking that radiation can be blown on the wind…..dropped in the rain onto crops that may be eaten.
Radiation sickness is not a nice way to leave the planet.

Not at all Ma, as was seen after Hiroshima & Nagasaki, the testing at Bikini Atoll & more recently at Chernobyl & to a lesser extent Fukashima. Radiation knows no boundaries or borders, if one place gets it, various others will too.

I don't even think it'll be near UK, if the lunatic in the Kremlin does do the nuclear thing, we'll be directly targeted. All those years during the "Cold War", we were constantly drilled on the actions to take should a nuclear strike hit, even doing the drills we'd all pretty much cease to function due to short term, long term exposure, it was more a matter of how long after the initial blast.

Cashy, I did say that this info was from Russian government statistics….so not really to be trusted.
The demonstrations on the streets tell a different story, although we are not really being given much information about these…which is of course the way that Russia operates.
