Re: x41 bus to manchester

It's actually one area that should have been left to council control - a sensible mix of cross subsidies to ensure most areas have a service. I think local buses were part of an area's identity that was somehow lost once they all got sold off. The old blue and red or Blackburn's green 'uns on the 46. Am not saying necessarily re-nationalise but may be tender routes out like in London and keep them in a town's colours also like in London. Funny how they can keep 'em all red and run them all night there yet elsewhere....

that was the basis of bus operation back in the good old days when buses were classed as a public service where local council run ones main objective was to attempt to break even. now its all about profit and shareholders. the two things do not mix and thats why the majority outside of london and the big cities see the reduction of frequencies or actuall withdrawel of routes that do not make a profit and which councils will not put money into. spent the great majority of my working life in the bus industry and de regulisation and the ideal of cross subsidisation did nothing for the industry and its passengers one little bit.

Re: x41 bus to manchester

It’s almost always cheaper to buy a return than a single, (but not if you’re only going one way)

Re: x41 bus to manchester

Apparently it's been announced that the X41 will now continue to run but that the resurrection of the direct bus from Accrington to Bury will not now happen - good news for some but not for everybody, why does it have to be one or the other, not a happy bunny

I am glad that there has been a reprieve, but am sorry that the Bury bus will not now run.
I think part of the problem with the x41 began when it ceased starting in Blackburn and it was routed through Ramsbottom.
It put extra time on the journey.
The bus to Bury from Blackburn seems to take forever to get there.
