Drive It Day 20th April 2008

Sunday sees the annual Drive It day for classic cars all over the country. As usual the roads will be awash with cranky old cars and there even crankier old drivers.
The initiative to get owners out and about in their vehicles on a specific day is in its third sucessful year details of the participating clubs is avalible here
Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs
Our own Phyllis (see avatar) will be heading from Huntleys at Salmesbury via the Forest of Bowland to Ribchester along with her Wolseley friends.
Feel free to pip, wave and engage in conversation with the participants. Bonus points for avoiding "My dad had one of those/Ilearned to drive in one of those"

Escorts and Marinas both qualify as classics with very enthusiastic owners clubs and very rare nowadays

Re: Drive It Day 20th April 2008

The closest ive ever been to driving a classic car was a mk1 golf, I know they have a following now but not sure if they are classed as a classic. I don have that car now though, cars get expensive to maintain after a certain age lol so ill stick to my new one

Re: Drive It Day 20th April 2008

The only cars i remember my dad having was a hillman avenger a horrible mucky green colour and then an austin princess. Mind you can remember the registration of the princess. Also he had a variety of ford transit vans that were always blue and can remember a couple of the registrations of them as well.
