sorry.....it has been drawn to my attention that this is not in Introduction section, but Nightlife and Events.(thanks Less - better get myself off to Specsavers) That means the mods won't slap our hands.
Apologies to you Steverh.
However, the criticism still stands.

You don't do spam?

What do you call it then?

We wouldn't have to google your name IF you had been polite enough to follow site rules and introduced yourself.

Then perhaps after a few interesting threads/posts put forward by you, you would have perhaps a different response from us owd grumps?

As you can see from the results, links alone, don't foreshorten matters, they make us suspicious of your motives.
When Accyweb first started we weren't quite the older generation though now we are fast approaching it.
In future wherever you put your link do it with thought and get the site owners permission before assuming it's a free site just to advertise your business.

Thank You.

It's an age thing Margararet, any time you feel you need help with the site or are struggling with links don't hesitate to get in touch, that's what we of the younger generations are here for!

Ah! That must be where you are confused?

Putting a link to a business on without the sites permission is Spam not research.

Re: Illustrated talks for most social groups

Hello Margaret,
Thanks for your advice. I don't think you're getting at me at all. It's good to hear a moderate response. The post I made was as a result of becoming frustrated at being unable to find any information with up to date contact details for groups in Accrington. It seems to be singularly absent from digital media.
I certainly seem to have upset many of the Accyweb Gods and others.
I've contacted Hyndburn U3a, and as yet received no complaints from them.
Regards, Steve

If anybody would like to come to one of my talks/lectures you would be made most welcome, no charge either but maybe buy me a pint at the bar afterwards.
The title is "My life in the military and how I rose through the ranks".

I can assure you it wont be boring.

I am pleased that you did not take offence at my suggestion. I like, where possible, to offer helpful advice.
I am sure you can see where it can be misconstrued, that you are here to promote yourself.
It would have been better to follow and post to some of the threads before embarking on the promotion of your own interests and business.
It isn't that we are a hostile bunch, it is just that many have trod the path that you set out on.
They have come here and told us what we are doing wrong and how we should be doing things. Not that I am suggesting that that was your aim.
Anyway, now you are here, welcome and I hope you find lots to interest you, stimulate you and post things to the forum.
I look forward to your posts.
Oh, and a blog would be interesting too.

Rather just buy you the pint and talk at the bar.

Nowt worse than having to sit through a discussion and having to wait politely with an empty glass for a break in proceedings to get a refill.

Though I could up your, "My life in the military and how I rose through the ranks" and raise it with, "My life at AccyWeb and how I remained rank".
(It will all be from memory, I've done no research).

I can assure you less the talk won't last more than five minutes, if that.

In the wrong hands 5 minutes can seem an eternity especially if your the victim of a researcher with powerpoint.
