The 2BR interview has lead to doing another one this morning, with a foreign station.

Re: Parkinson's Disease Society new local group

On behalf of the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Parkinson's disease support group, I'd like to thank Hyndburn Borough Council for another kind donation of £250.00, which will help with our running costs, and will ensure we can afford to hire the Supper Room at the Town Hall for another year.

I've received three phone calls this week from people in Hyndburn, newly diagnosed with Parkinson's. To be able to let them know there is help and support available locally is a great comfort, and that is faciliated by us being given this grant.

Thank you very much. It's most appreciated.

My personal thanks go to my own councillor, Peter Britcliffe. Without his help and advice I wouldn't have known that grants such as this are available to charities. Your support has been invaluable.

Re: Parkinson's Disease Society new local group

The next meeting of the Hyndburn & Ribble Valley support group will be on Saturday 3rd July, in the Supper Room at Accrington Town Hall, 11.30am – 1.30pm.

We’ll bring food, and enjoy our usual shared lunch.

The speaker this month will be local homeopath, Accy Web's Nicola68, who’ll talk about how homeopathy can help some of the symptoms of Parkinson’s.

A warm welcome will be extended to anyone who has Parkinson’s, or whose life has been affected by it, such as having a family member with it, etc.

Now I've seen the photo, no doubt you'll be having it framed and will take pride of place on the mantle piece of Garinda Towers estate

The next meeting of the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Parkinson’s disease support group will be held on Saturday 4th September, 2010, in the Supper Room at Accrington Town Hall, 11.30am – 1.00pm.

Guest speaker will be Russ Bury of Tempest Training and Martial Arts, who’ll talk about the benefits exercise like Thai Chi can bring to patients.

There’ll be the usual bring and share Jacob’s join lunch.

Adele Ewens, the area Parkinson’s support worker, will be in attendance, for anyone who needs more practical and/or legal advice.

A warm welcome will be extended to old and new friends, as well as the usual friendship and support the group aims to offer.

Re: Parkinson's Disease Society new local group

Offically found out today that a grant we applied for, has been succesful.

Small Sparks have awarded us the maximum amount of money, £500. Which we intend to use to produce information packs about Parkinson's disease, telling all about the charity Parkinson's UK (formerly known as the Parkinson's Disease Society), and the work they do both nationally, and locally.

The packs are to be given to the areas' neurologists, who will then hopefully pass on the information to new patients, that there is help and support out there, and it's not all doom and gloom.

Peter Britcliffe mentioned the grants to me, but it was Gayle Knight who encouraged me to apply, and emailed me the application forms.

On behalf of the Hyndburn & Ribble Valley Parkinson's support group, I'd like to say a massive thank you to Gayle. Your help and support helped immensely. Without you we wouldn't have this valuable grant.

Hopefully the money will help those newly diagnosed realise that although living with this degenerative, incurable disease, is initially scary, it is possible to live a fruitful, and happy life.

The next meeting of the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Parkinson’s disease support group will be on Saturday 6th November, 11.30am -1.30pm, in the Supper Room at Accrington Town Hall.

There will be a Jacob’s Join bring and share lunch, and a warm welcome will be extended to anyone whose life has been affected by Parkinson’s

It’s very informal, but we also aim to offer support, information, and friendship to members old and new.

(There is lift access to the room.)
