Post Accrington Stanley Mascot???

After watching the Stanley in action today, and seeing Shrewsbury bring their mascot to the CROWN ground, who entertained the youngsters before kick off(don't know about half time [smiley=pint.gif],many fans that I have spoken to today believe that Stanley need a similar mascot.  What are your opinions?

Post Re: Accrington Stanley Mascot???

This should be posted on www.accringtonstanley.co.uk

But to answer.. Is already been looked into and the cost is over 2k for a proper mascot suit and unless sponsorship can be found then its a no go

Butlins did say they would send a mascot and two red or blue coats whatever they are to all Accy home games but the guy sorting it at there end is on holiday (Something ironic in that but I cant put my finger on it)

Suffice to say the club wont get a mascot and its up to the supporters club. But sponsorship required...

Post Re: Accrington Stanley Mascot???

Wasnt handing out toffees to the kids though was he...

The mascots name is Wynstanley or Winstanley (bad speller me) and trying to get a mascot made in its likeness is the costly bit..

The mascot wynstanley has historic connections with the club so not so asy to change to summat else

Post Re: Accrington Stanley Mascot???

A mascot could be a good idea.

I went on Ewood on Saturday with my friend and his 18 month old daughter.

At half-time the Mascot's came round and joked and played with the Kids. My friend's daughter really enjoyed and starting crying when the mascot was leaving!!

So in that respect I think it would be a very good idea however the cost is very expensive and I dont suppose you would find to many sponsors at that price.

Post Re: Accrington Stanley Mascot???

I put forward that the mascot should be bought for 2k then sell advertining space on it.. perhaps 500 quid per season to have your company name on front and back.. one company only all over it...

few seasons to make yer money back then yer in profit..

2k gets ya a mascot with a minimum 10 year lifespan according to the companies we looked at

but th idea was rejected

2k for ten years?

surely companies would be interested in that - especially with the crowds that accrington are likely to draw this season alone.

im mean if 15k A YEAR is good enough for Hyndburn Borough Council then £200 a year (over the life span) is surely worth a look at?

Post Re: Accrington Stanley Mascot???

Well there was a mascot at the last home game and will be at all future games.. STAN The MONKEY

Seemed to go down well. Pictures on www.kipax.com at the [H] Scarborough game

Ths coming saturday he/it ? will hopefully be handing out free sweets to the kids.

Total cost of Mascot ? Free donated by Butlins It isn't what was originally wanted and some people have complained its not a bulldog as per club history. But beggers can't be choosers eh.
