Cheers for the over-65's

Good news for the over-65’s who enjoy a drink or two. According to our daily newspaper a 30-year study by the University of California has found that people over the age of 65 who drink up to three alcoholic drinks a day are more likely to live to the age of 85 without dementia or other cognitive impairments than non-drinkers. This apparently builds on recent research linking alcohol intake to longevity.

Now they tell me. For years I have been completing every quiz and puzzle I come across in the hope that this will prevent dementia, and all I really needed to do was fill up a wine glass, sit back and enjoy….

I am not a drinker.
I have found that I do not enjoy alcohol, I do not tolerate it well anymore...so I have all but given it up.
I am not saying I won't ever have an odd glass of wine or a long cool glass of dark cider.
And come next week there will be another survey along similar lines which will cintradict the research done in THIS survey.

Dotti...keep on doing the puzzles and have a glass of wine as well...that way you can enjoy the best of both worlds

As the song goes, it all makes work for the working man to do, only these folk will get paid more than the gasman.

Thank you Less....I really enjoyed that bit of nostalgia.
I enjoyed it so much that I sang along(well there is no-one home but me) and I KNEW all of the words!

As for research it depends who commissioned itWhy they commisioned it...who paid for it to be done...what they wanted to prove(they leave out any questions which might just throw a spanner in that particular works), who they choose to take part...and of course how many folk were involved in the study.
Not that I want in any way to rain on Dotti's day...but don't have the wine just because you think it will make you live longer...have it because it is what you enjoy, what you fancy and what gives you a warm fuzzy glow.
I have always been suspicious of ANY research because of the above criteria

Research is just bullshine to keep people in useless jobs as far as i'm concerned,i can remember when "Eggs" were bad fer yeh, then they were good fer yeh theres many more instances of such rubbish but to me thats the most memorable.

Not just eggs, milk was supposedly full of calcium, good for growing bones, now we have to put up with watered down skimmed carp, which only means for me if I have a brew I have to pour in twice as much just to enjoy what comes 'naturally' from a cow.

Not quite that old yet (52) so if I start in now, well I should have a good chance of hitting the 95, maybe even the Ton!
