Did the Earth move?

News from Japan -' we have a 7.6 earthquake'

Oops sorry - no we don't
Japan apologises for false quake alert

Now just how can you mistake a 7.6 earthquake?

Maybe the press release was released too soon - just a test

Like Jerry Della Femina did in his wonderful book: "From Those Wonderful People Who Gave You Pearl Harbor."

Re: Did the Earth move?

It just shows that seismometers can give false readings.
An earthquake that size would have made the news by now
..........or would it?

Just a little wander: A couple of weeks ago, I heard an interview with a Japanese guy who survived the bombing of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki .... no shlt ... he survived Hiroshima, and then scurried back to his home town of Nagasaki at about the same time "Bock's Car" arrived .... ... of course, I think the dropping of the bombs was appropriate reprisal for the bayonetting of British and Canadian wounded as they were on the operating tables in Hong Kong and Singapore ... and the Rape of Nanking ... etc., etc., etc. Ooops ... I think I've wandered into the realm of pc'ism, better quit while I'm ahead.

By the way, isn't Rolls Royce now owned by the krauts ... you know, those wonderful people who gave us the Blitz. Ironic that the Merlin engine was what put them on their asses.

Depends on what the rest of the world was doing and if there were more dead people than Haiti.

The mechanical devices that attached the bombs to the planes were designed by one of the Marx brothers.I think it was Groucho but I may be wrong.(as if)

We had a shaker this morning (10.15 PST), a sharp sudden jolt , according to the USGS it was a 3.5 (smallish) but located only about 4 miles from me
