It’s not really funny….

Can anyone tell me why video clips of ordinary people getting hurt, falling over, and so on, are thought to be funny. Even with my sometimes warped sense of humour I cannot find anything to laugh about in these clips. Why should somebody getting hurt cause a lot of hilarity? Maybe some of you laugh at these clips - so can you say why you do. I know it is good to have a laugh, and here’s to more of it, but to my way of thinking this should not be at other people’s expense.

Schadenfreude I suppose? If the injury isn't serious or the "Star" has their pride more than their physical person being "hurt", I imagine the laughter response by others is part relief & a certain amount of association due to their having done or experienced similar.

Just human nature I suppose, we are & do what we do initially on impulse seems to be my experience of things.

No, l cannot see anything funny in such things.
Likewise video clips of people making a mess with custard pies or such things…it always makes me think of the person who has to do the big clean up.
